ADA Coordinator Activities

ADA - Title I
Provided information from Job Accommodation Network on
·
accommodations for deaf and/or hard of hearing employee to
supervisor;
Reviewed SCSEP (Senior Community Service Employment Program)
·
participant form, forwarded to Director Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission for opinion re question related to disability;
ADA - Title II & S. 504
Followed up on informal complaint re unsafe sidewalk, Kinoole St. with
·
DPW and providedinformationtoComplainantre schedule for
improvements;
Responded to one inquiry for Sign Language Interpreter fluent in Pidgin;
·
Researched one inquiry re requirement for service animal (dog) to be on
·
a leash on a bus;
Forwarded email regarding outreach to voters with disabilities in Hawaii
·
County from State Office of Elections to various disability groups;
Reviewed Transition Plans;
·
Reviewed Consultant proposal for overseeing Transition Plans;
·
Met with Deputy Corporation Counsel, Director-Public Works, Director
·
Parks & Recreation and Park Planner to discuss Consultants proposal
recommended revisions;
Attended teleconference with Officials of Federal Highway
·
Administration, Washington, D.C., Deputy Corporation Counsel, Director-
Public Works and Engineering staff re complaint regarding noncompliant
curb cuts, Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea;
Coordinated with Parks Planner and requested Disability and
·
Communication Access Board to conduct 3 workshops for County
employees on Surveying a Site and ADA Accessibility Guidelines;
Received one informal complaint from County resident that Mayors
·
Committee on People With Disabilities is ineffective and does nothing;
ADA Title III
Referred County resident to Hawaii Disability Rights and Department of
·
Justice ADA Techinal Information line re inaccessible swimming pool in
condo;
Referred County resident to Hawaii Disability Rights re allegations that
·
Security Guards at supermarket rush people with disabilities;

ArrangedInformationSessiononAlzheimersDiseaseforCounty

employees to be delivered in April by Alzheimers Association;
Conducted 7 classes for 158 supervisory and 3 non-supervisory employees
·
on Title I;
