ADA Coordinators Report

ADA - Title II & S. 504
Drafted memorandum for Director advising of 3 upcoming DCAB trainings
·
for County employees on How to Survey a Site and ADA Accessibility
Guidelines;
Researched training videos for police training;
·
Drafted procedures for loan of Assistive Listening Device for County use;
·
Responded to an inquiry re Assistive Listening Device at a State hearing in
·
a county facility; followed up with State agency (DLNR);
Hosted a seminar on Best Practices in the Public Right of Way and
·
Accessible Sidewalks and Curbcuts for County staff, delivered by Hawaii
Department of Transportations ADA Coordinator;
Received one informal complaint from County resident regarding denial
·
of access to a change room at KCAC based on disability; forwarded
complaint to P&R for investigation; advised complainant of findings, new
procedures, etc.;
Responded to DCAB inquiry re renovation of County Building;
·
Attended meeting with Deputy Corporation Counsel, Director Public
·
Works, Director Parks and Recreation to brief Mayor and Managing
Director on issues related to Transition Plans;
Reviewed particulars of complaint alleging disability discrimination
·
(Special Olympics) with recreation specialist, determined no discrimination
involved, but service could be adjusted;
Attended teleconference with Deputy Corporation Counsel and Planner
·
Parks and Recreation regarding consultants proposal on Transition Plan;
Followed up with Police regarding Judges disregard of a citation to a
·
person who misused a disability parking placard;
ADA Title III
Forwarded inquiry from County resident re curbcut in Kailua-Kona to
·
engineer Department of Public Works;
ADA Training
Conducted 6 classes for 116 supervisory employees;
·
Scheduled date in June for Alzheimers Association to conduct an
·
Information session in Kailua-Kona.

Attended meeting Mayors Committee People With Disabilities, Hilo;

Attended Disability Rights Hawaii Meeting, presented information on State
·
EmergencyPreparednessPlan;
