ADA Coordinator Activities
January 2006
ADA - Title I
Provided Alzheimer Association County contacts for employee training;

Reviewed proposed Council resolution for Department of Parks &
·
Recreation policyforrenters;
Reviewed draft of Department of Parks & Recreation ADA guidelines for
·
renters;
Responded to 6 inquiries from DCAB re submission of construction
·
drawings County projects;
One formal complaint alleging violations of Americans With Disability Act
·
Accessibility Guidelines forwarded to Department of Public Works;
provided information to Complainant re schedule for improvements;
One informal complaint re broken sidewalk Kinoole Street in front of Elks'
·
Lodge forwarded to Department of Public Works;
ADA Title III
Provided info to County resident re hand controls for motor vehicle;
·
Referred inquiry re inspector for new building to DCAB.
·
ADA Training
Conducted 3 training sessions for 54 supervisory employees on Title I.

Other Activities
Reviewed Job Accommodation Network on-line training "Substance
·
Abuse and the ADA";
Attended meeting Mayor's Committee People With Disabilities, Hilo;
·
Attended Disability Rights Hawaii Meeting;
·
Arranged workshop on Inspection of Curb Cuts and Best Practicesin the
·
Public Right of Way for County employees in March, 2006; drafted
Memorandum for Director's Signature;
Conducted Research, met with Program Specialists in Recruitment and
·
Examination and Classification re requirements for Driver's Licenses in
minimum qualifications; drafted and revised Circular for Director's
signature.
