Complaint was not substantiated; Attended Hawaii Disability Rights Public Meeting regarding public transit · and other issues; Responded to request regarding provision of Sign Language Interpreters · for Senior Job Fair; Forwarded complaint re County vehicles parked in spaces requiring · disability placards to Director ‚ Parks and Recreation for follow-up; Responded to two inquiries regarding replacement of two TDDs · (Telephone Devices for the Deaf) in Mayor€s Office; Asked Police to install signage and provide an alternatie method of · access (to telephone only) in Public Safety Building, Hilo; Wrote letter to Executive Director of East Hawaii Cultural Center regarding · ADA improvements required for by lease; Received information that the Department of Parks and Recreation will · modify signage prohibiting animals to exclude prohibition of service animals; Responded to inquiry regarding adequate notification for auxiliary aids for · Senior Job Fair; Followed up on request for on-street accessible parking space with · requestor and Engineer VI Traffic Division, visited site and forwarded recommendations to Traffic Division; Commented on issues related to ADA compliance and Friends of the Zoo · to Department of Parks and Recreation; Received information that grab bars were installed at Kona Community · Aquatic Center shower following a request; Received letters sent from Big Island architects to Mayor Kim regarding the · negative impact of Bill 151 on accessibility features of facilities; Followed up with Managing Director re accessibility improvements to Old · Kona Airport and Department of Land and Natural Resources ADA Coordinator, visited site and forwarded concerns to DLNR; Notified Traffic that pedestrian hand signals at Haili Street and Keawe had · been spray painted black. Title III Referred inquiries from social worker Hale Anuenue to Fair Housing Officer · at Office of Housing and Community Development; Providedinformationregardingserviceanimalstocandystoreowner; · SentinformationregardingaccessiblebustourstoVolcanotoDCAB; · Followed up with Office of Management re captioning for What€s Up in · the County. Other ADA Activities Attended Disability and Communication Access Board Conference ‚ · Design for Life; Attended Quarterly County ADA Coordinators Meeting with DCAB; · Coordinated Mr. Bill Hecker€s, AIA and ADA expert retained in Russell v. · County of Hawaii, delivery of two sessions re Program Access and S. 504 Boot Camp to 71 employees; Coordinated walking tour of downtown Hilo for review of curb cuts and · potential spaces for accessible on-street parking with Bill Hecker and Engineer VI, Traffic Division, Public Works.
