Accessibility Improvements to Isaac Hale Beach Park received final review

letter from DCAB;
Accessibility Improvements Volcano Park, Cooper Center returned for

corrections.
ADA Inquiries & Complaints Title II
Inquiry from County Resident re appointment of Lands Use Commissioners
·
and their knowledge of the ADA; information provided;
Inquiry from County department re Sign Language Interpreters and best way
·
to accommodate a client;
Inquiry from County department re Countys ability to enforce ADAAG for
·
private businesses. Referred to County Code, Section 25-4-55, Parking for
Persons with Disabilities;
Referred information re loan of Office of Elections accessibility equipment to
·
Public Works and Parks & Recreation;
Referred request for accessible parking space at Lanakila Housing in Hilo to
·
Department of Public Works and Housing and Community Development
Corporation of Hawaii (HCDCH); visited site with Chief Engineer and followed
up with DCAB; wrote to HCDCH to request a meeting to coordinate plans for
accessibility improvements with the County;
Forwarded information to DCAB re hardware Aupuni Center Interior Doors

and asked for a letter clarifying DCABs role in review of plan and
contractors responsibility;
Inquiry from DCAB re improvements to Waimea Swimming Pool referred to
·
ADA Coordinator Kauai.

Responded to inquiry regarding diabetes and definition of disability;

Responded to inquiry from department regarding accommodation of

employee with permanent shift change;

Attended H. Marks presentation to County Council Human Services and

Economic Development Committee on Project LifeSave;
Participated in DCAB interview of County ADA Coordinators;
·
Training
Attended Equal Employment Opportunity Commission seminar on the
·
ADA;
Prepared and delivered presentation, EEOC Update at Quarterly
·
Personnel Meeting which included decision on EEOC v. EchoStar
Communications.
