Transition Plan
Pi'ilani Elderly Complex Accessibility Improvements "approved" by DCAB;
Hilo Senior Center Accessibility Improvements "approved" by DCAB;
Moohouli Park Accessibility Improvements returned for corrections.
ADA Grievances
County resident requested wedges installed in Aupuni Center Conference
Room washrooms to facilitate usage by persons with disabilities.
Conducted research no requirement in ADAAG; advised resident;
County resident requested oral driver's license test as an auxiliary aid;
consulted with Driver's Licensing;
County resident wrote to Mayor re lack of accessible parking spaces on
city streets and in municipal parking lots. Conducted research, consulted
DCAB; also inspected downtown parking lots. Sent letter to resident
regarding no requirements for on-street parking ADAAG and DCAB
brochure on Accessible Parking Spaces, sent recommended design for
"accessible on-street parking to Department of Public Works.
Outreach:
Attended Disability Rights Hawaii Meeting.
ADA/Employment
Circulated, Section 902, EEOC Definition of the Term Disability" to
Department Heads
Circulated Advisory No. 5, "EEOC Enforcement Guidance on the ADA and
Psychiatric Disabilities;"
Circulated, Advisory No. 6 "Questions and Answers About Diabetes in the
Workplace" to County Department and Agency Heads.
Responded to inquiry re accessible parking spaces for employees only at
Aupuni Center;
Researched ADA requirements for Emergency Alarm Systems and Public
Address System Requirements.
Other ADA:
Sent information to County resident "How to Design an Accessible Parking
Space" for a condo in Waikoloa;
Researched people withdisabilities usinggolfcarts for transportation;
Arranged for County resident to meet with Department of Public Works re
plansforAccessibleentrancetoKonaAli'ICondo;
MetwithvendorreinteriordoorsAupuniCenter.Issueongoing;
Applied for scholarship to Easter Seals, Project Access Transportation
Training Honolulu.
TRAINING
Attended 2 day training on Title VI, Hawaii Department of Transportation.
