<br />ADA Coordinator <br />November/December 2004 <br />Americans With Disabilities Act Issues: <br />Transition Plans: <br />Hilo Senior Center Accessibility Improvements – returned for <br />corrections; <br />Coordinated with Departments of Public Works, Parks and <br />Recreation and Corporation Counsel to update status of <br />Transition Plans for article in West Hawaii News; <br />Sent revised ADA Grievance Procedure to Corp Counsel for <br />comment. <br />DCAB: <br />Contacted for information regarding standards for hand controls <br />in motor vehicles at request of HPD – Licensing; also <br />conducted additional research; <br />Forwarded County resident's concerns re impact of "bottle bill" <br />on people with disabilities to DCAB; <br />Attended Quarterly County ADA Coordinators' Meeting in <br />Honolulu. <br />Modification to Practice: <br />Sent letter to County resident advising of requirements for <br />operating farm vehicles on county roads; <br />Met with Corp Counsel and Recreation Specialist to discuss <br />and de-brief accessibility to Summer Fun Programs. <br />Program Access <br />Hawaii Disability Rights Complaint – followed up with Police <br />Officer Dexter Veriato re use of telephone outside Driver's <br />Licensing Office for deaf customers; <br />Consulted with Office of Housing and Community Development <br />re use of Community Development Block Grant funds for <br />installation of automatic entry doors in County facilities. <br />Effective Communications <br /> <br />
