CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 10:25 a.m.
ROLL CALL
A quorum was present.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
S. Newland moved to approve the agenda as submitted. E. Takazawa seconded the
motion. The motion waspassed.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
S. Newland moved to approve the May 19, 2006 minutes. E. Takazawa seconded the
motion. The motion was passed.
TREASURERS REPORT
The treasurers report was circulated.
C. Ka-ipo moved to accept the treasurers report. K. Peters seconded the motion. The
motion was passed.
STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
R. White reported that she is interested in the committee. She belonged to a lot of
womenorganizationsbackonthemainland.

A. Letter from CSW to Myles Miyasato, Chair of the Cost of Government Commission

D. Email from Sharon Ferguson-Quick, Executive Director of the HSCSW, regarding a
Tea and Champagne Party honoring the 2006 Womens Fund Grantees to be held
on Thursday, June 29, 2006, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Indigo Restaurant on
Oahu
E. Email from Sharon Ferguson-Quick, Executive Director of the HSCSW, inviting
interested parties to attend the Hawaii Womens Oral History Collection to be held
on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the HSCSW Office
REPORTS
A. Education
1. Urgent Services Directory
D. Pung reported that she has updated the directory and asked if K. Peters would
be willing to input the changes into the computer. K. Peters agreed.
E. Takazawa reported that Keevan Tom of Alliance Direct publishes a newsletter
called Waiakea Uka and Kaumana Malamalama. He is interested in inserting the
Urgent Services Directory in his mailings. K. Peters said she would like to know
the target audience because CSW spends a lot of money for the directory.
E. Takazawa offered to contact K. Tom to obtain more information and where the
directory will be disseminated.

5. Hawaii County Womens Hall of Fame October 28, 2006
C. Ka-ipo reported that she fielded seven phone calls since the press release
was published in the Hawaii Tribune Herald.
C. Ka-ipo stated that she would like to provide hotel accommodations and $200
forthesoundsystemtoPacificSoundCompany.Secondly,thejudgeswillmeet
sometime in July/August to review the judging criteria. CSW suggested that
C.Ka-ipoprepareanitemizedbudgetfortheWomensHallofFameandpresent
it to the committee for approval at the next meeting.

6. Equal Pay
D. Pung reported that CSW discussed having A. Amaral speak on Equal Pay for
Womens Health Month. K. Peters recommended that this program be directed
towards high schoolers. K. Peters said that M. Masunaga and C. Kitaoka have
contacted schools in West Hawaii so CSW can ask them who to approach and
CSW can work with former member J. Balberde-Kamalii in coordinating with East
Hawaii Schools.

B. Health
1. Womens Health Month
S. Newland reported that she received a letter from the HSCSW about Womens
Health Month.
C. Ka-ipo suggested that CSW talk about breastcancer prevention and provide
true facts. S. Newland added that CSW could direct it towards breast health
care.
E. Takazawa mentioned that planned events for Womens Health Month are
healing touch, Tai Chi, Reiki, and a financial planning seminar for Hilo.
S. Newland said she is still developing her program about birth and prenatal
care.
D. Pung stated that it seems like CSW will be able to advertise the events
through the HSCSW. C. Ka-ipo has also agreed to go on the radio and talk
about Womens Health Month and the Womens Hall of Fame.

1. Newsletter
K. Peters suggested that E. Takazawa inquire with K. Tom whether he would
write CSWs newsletter in exchange for the Urgent Services Directory.
E.CommunityReports
S. Newland reported that the Womens Hall of Fame press release went out to the
Punaroundtable.Secondly,hergroupheldthreecommunitymeetingsforthePuna
Community Planning Meeting. Lastly, the dolphin birthing center received the most
communitysupport.

E. Takazawa reported that she did a presentation on healing touch at the County
Clerical Conference.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Nominating Committee Proposed Slate of Officers and Election of Officers
S. Newland moved to accept the following slate of officers as presented by the
nominating committee:

Treasurer N. Kelly
C. Ka-ipo seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
B. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Initiative Training Program
Tabled.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Hawaii Womens Oral History Collection Training June 20, 2006
D. Pung reported that J. Coburn will be representing CSW at the training. The
HSCSW has offered to pay the airfare.
B. Guest Speakers Ellen Takazawa, Healing Touch
E. Takazawa provided a demonstration on healing touch for CSW members.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Friday, July 21, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in Hilo.
Location to be announced.
B. Schedules
D. Pung will be unable to attend the July meeting.
