WATER BOARD OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Pursuant to Chapter 54,Part III, and 91-3 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that
the Water Board of the County of Hawaii will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to be added to the
Department of Water Supply's Rules and Regulations. The topic of the proposed rule is the acceptance of
existing private water systems. The proposed rule lists situations in which the Water Board will not accept
existing private water systems as well as listing all of the requirements that must be met in order for the Water
Board to accept private water systems.
Copies of the proposed rule, which would be added as Section 4-13,is available for review at the
Department of Water Supply's main office during normal work hours. A copy of the proposed rule will be
mailed to any interested person who requests a copy and pays the required fees for the copy and postage.
Requests for copies may be made either in writing, or by calling either Ms. Doreen Shirota or Ms. Denise
Gaylord at(808) 961-8050. The main office address is: Waiakea Office Plaza, 345 Kekuanaoa Street, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720. The date, time, and location for the public hearing are:

All those desiring to express their views, arguments, or submit data on the above matter may do so by
submitting statements in writing to the Chairman of the Water Board of the County of Hawaii on or before the
date of the public hearing;but anyone interested may appear in person to submit their data, views, or arguments
orally before the Water Board at the hearing. Submissions made to the Chairman prior to the date of the hearing
shall be mailed or delivered to the Chairman in care of the Department of Water Supply, 345 Kekuanaoa Street,
Hilo, Hawai`i 96720.
If accommodation or auxiliary aid and/or services (i.e., sign language, interpreter, large print)to
participate in the hearing is required,please call (808) 961-8050.
