CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Nancy Crawford,Deputy Director of Finance, at 2:00
p.m.
ATTENDANCE
The following committee members and staff were in attendance:

Ronald Takahashi,Deputy Director of Public Works

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 27, 2002 MEETING
Ronald Takahashi moved and Charles Chai seconded that the minutes of November 27,
2002 meeting be approved. Motion carried.

There was no one from the public in attendance.

NEW BUSINESS—Standardization of Purchase of Self-contained Breathing Appartus
for the Fire Department
Fire Chief Darryl Oliveira stated that the Fire Department is presently in violation of
OSHA mandate regarding Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The County
must provide employees NIOSH certified respirators and that certified SCBAunits are to
be comprised of proprietary specific parts and components.
The Fire Department SCBA inventory is comprised of MSA and ISI products, so
therefore mixing and matching occurs frequently which is not allowable. In a survey of
end user personnel, MSA was ranked higher than ISI.
After some discussion, Patricia Engelhard moved and Lincoln Ashida seconded go with
the purchase of the MSA product. Motion carried.
As there was no one from the public and no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 2:17 p.m.
