ORDINANCE NO. 06 159
"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 7, OF THE HAWAI'I COUNTY CODE
1983 (2005 EDITION), RELATING TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE."
"BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I:"
SECTION 1. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15 -61, Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as
amended), is amended to read as follows:
"Section 15-61. Organization.

of sixteen members, who shall be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council, and may

State of Hawai'i) and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, or their
designated representatives, shall serve as ex- officio members of the committee, without the nower

SECTION 2. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15 -62 (b), of the Hawaii County Code, 1983 (2005
Edition), is amended to read as follows:
"(b) The membership of the committee shall include one representative each from the
American Legion, Big Island National Guard Retirees Association, Big Island Retired
Military Association, Club 100, Disabled American Veterans, Hawai'i Island Veterans
Memorial, Inc., 442 "d Veterans Association, Hilo Interpreters Club, Hawai'i Island Women
Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Veterans of the Vietnam War, [and] the
Military Order of the Purple Heart [14ile Cmeter; 73 1.], and the Korean War Veterans
Organization. The committee shall also include three at -large members."
SECTION 3. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15 -62 (f), of the Hawai'i County Code, 1983
(2005 edition), is amended as follows:

SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed and struck through. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material, and underscoring need not
be included.
SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or
circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the
ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end,
the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
