HomeMy WebLinkAboutVisionKeepers Fact Sheetf/ EqV on Doty "town HiiO A91 1 2025 EDH 2025 VISIONKEEPERS NETWORK FACT SHEET Name: EDH 2025 VisionKeepers Network (VK) The VK is a volunteer group of community representatives whose role is to advise and assist the County Planning Department in the promotion and implementation of the EDH 2025 Plan as a Living Action Plan. aka: Shepherds, keepers of the flame, torch bearers, networkers, facilitators, messengers, translators, connectors, cheerleaders, stewards, liaisons, inspirers, change agents, praise fairies, ambassadors, promoters. Vision: Our Vision is that an inspired community embraces, implements, and celebrates the community -based Vision and Living Action Plan. Mission: The Mission of the EDH 2025 VisionKeepers Network is to strengthen partnerships within the community to implement the Living Action Plan. Logo: A logo, above, provides us with an identity and helps others to make a visual association with the EDH 2025 Plan. Core Values: What we believe in and the principles that guide how we work together and with others: • Community visioning and implementation planning is the foundation of a community -based plan. • Building local leadership capacity is instrumental in sustaining community planning. • The success of the EDH 2025 plan is built on strengthening community /private/ government partnerships. • Encouraging Lead Solution Partners (LSPs) to incorporate the EDH 2025 Plan in their goals and annual project plans is vital for implementation Membership/ Representation: The VK is a community -based group and not a government- appointed committee. Anyone who demonstrates commitment to the VK core values, guiding principles, and roles and responsibilities may become a member of the VK. Rev. June 30, 2011 Meeting Schedule: The VK meet on an as needed basis. In the past, meetings have been held on the fourth Thursday of the month from 11:30 am -1:00 pm. Key Activities: Attend VK meetings, develop relationships and work with LSPs, represent VK at public meetings, and occasionally as a guest speaker. Past Funding Sources: Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council; County of Hawaii Planning Department; Hawaii County Council; County Research and Development; State Office of Planning — Coastal Zone Management Program (CZM); Hawaii Community Foundation; State Department of Health, American Institute of Architects. VK Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Assist the Planning Department in promoting and educating interested individuals about the EDH 2025 Plan. 2. Listen for and share current news and information `in and around' Downtown Hilo. 3. `Talk story' with and advise the Planning Department on EDH 2025 - related issues and concerns and share recommendations from a community perspective. 4. Assist LSPs in identifying priority actions for successful implementation. 5. Assist with identifying new LSPs. 6. Serve as a LSP for VK- related actions. 7. Partner with the Planning Department to sustain the EDH 2025 Visioning and Implementation process and share suggestions with other community planning processes. 8. Evaluate effectiveness of the VK by redefining roles and responsibilities as needed.
