Subject: Against redistricting of district 1
Aloha,
I have a small 5 acre farm here in Pepeekeo where we grow fruit and raise sheep. We live a rural
lifestyle along with all the other small communities along the Hamakua Coast. Our issues always come
back to our rural lifestyle, so why dilute our voices by breaking us in two districts? The populations of
Waikoloa and Waimea are very different from our incomes, education, means of support, and our
lifestyles. Since we are a small voting block, why divide us up? We reside in the most beautiful coast
of this island, which could be used to develop golf courses, hotels, and shopping centers if our voices are
cut in half. Is that what this re- districting is all about? I hope not.
Please do not cut the Hamakua coast in two.
