Dear Members of the Commission regarding redistricting the Big Island
Please scrap Plan A! I am extremely concerned that this plan would split up the Hamakua district,
which has very unique characteristics as well as strong citizen involvement from a growing number
small farmers. I believe that neither Hilo nor West Hawaii can effectively represent this unified region
which has unique needs. I believe that Plan A would also be a hard moral blow to an area that has
worked hard to work together.
