Subject: redistricting - do not split Hamakua
Hawaii County Redistricting Commission:
believe it would be a mistake to adopt Plan A as amended which would split Hamakua into two districts and join
the two halves with other more urbanized districts. Hamakua is and should be a farming district and represented
by those who live in and understand the rural nature of the district — not a representative from either Hilo or
Waimea. I believe it would be a mistake to split the Hamakua district.
