Subject: Hawai'i County Redistricting Plan Comments
Hawai'i County Redistricting Commission:
We are property owners, farmers and residents in Umauma, which is currently within the North Hilo
District in Hawai'i County.
We are opposed to, and urge you to vote against Plan A, or any other Plan that would split the Hamakua
Coast into multiple County Districts.
The Hamakua Coast is a very unique area within Hawai'i County and its history, culture and economy,
and it must be represented in its entirety by a County Council Member who lives within the Hamakua
Coast and is personally committed to and working for its property owners, businesses and residents.
It would not be appropriate or fair for the property owners, businesses and residents of the Hamakua
Coast to be represented by a County Council Member in Waimea or Hilo.
