TO: HawaN county Redistricting Commission
would urge the Hawaii County Redistricting commission to vote to adopt
Community Plan 40, as amended.
We have a small coffee farm on the east side of Pa'au ha u Road. Our coffee is
marketed and labeled, according to regulations, as Harnakua coffee. Under Plan
A we would have to change our label to read Forth Hilo coffee. I find this a very
distasteful thought. After years of encouraging Hamakua agriculture, and the
reputation it has earned, this would be a huge setback.
I believe the Harnakua District is a unique area and will only be served properly
by local representation. The interests and problems of the Hilo area and best
Hawaii are completely different than those of Harnakua.
Please vote to select Community Plan 40, as amended.
