Aloha Hawaii County Council,
I live 3 miles from Honokaa on the Hilo side of Paauhau Road below beltway 19. We
have a small coffee farm which we call Misty Acres Hamakua Coffee. We moved to the
Hamakua Coast in 2003 and like and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Harnakua
Coast. We feel that the town of Honokaa is the heart of the Hamakua district. Splitting
Honokaa from the Hamakua District is just bad business sense. Labeling our coffee as
North Hilo Coffee is a load idea .... that name does net reflect our heritage.
i am writin g to tell you that I think splitting the Hamakua Coast at Paauhau Road in to
North Hilo and Waimea is a BIG POLITICAL MISTAKE. We would lose our uniqueness
and our vote would be lost in Hilo and /or Waimea.
Please gate to keep Hamakua separate from Hilo or Waimea.
