Eoff, Karen
From: jim Cain [kinglaulau @hotmail.com]
Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2011 7:59 AM
To: keoff@co.hawaii.hi.us
Subject: redistricting
Aloha kakou,
I am writing to urge the redistricting commission to not adopt Plan A which would split our community, and take
away our representation on the Hawaii County Council. Hamakua has historically always been a distinct district,
with unique challenges and opportunities. Plan A would divide our district and remove our voice in local
government. There is an amazing opportunity for Hamakua to grow as an agricultural, family farm based
economy, and there are many efforts that are working to achieve this. It is imperative that we retain our unified
Hamakua voice in local government to ensure that our partnership with the County government remains strong.
Community Plan 40 would be a much preferred alternative to the redistricting effort. Thank you for your time,
and please vote no on Plan A, and yes on Plan 40. Me ke aloha, Jim Cain, Waipi'o Valley 333 -0457
COMM. 4 8. 8 3
11/4/2011
