Subject: redistricting
I am unable to attend the November 10 meeting in Hilo, which has redistricting on its agenda.
I would like to strongly urge the commission and county council to make sure that the Puna area has two
whole and entire districts totally within it. Puna is the largest growing area of the county, and we can
presume that over the next ten years it will continue to grow rapidly, and will need its own two council
representatives.
With Puna becoming bigger than Hilo, it seems only fair that Hilo relinquish one of its two seats in
favor of this new larger area.
