2011 HAWAII COUNTY REDISTRICTING COMMISSION
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
Pursuant to §92 -41, Hawaii Revised Statutes (hereinafter "HRS "), notice is hereby given that public
hearings will be held by the Hawaii County Redistricting Commission for the purpose of taking public
testimony regarding the adoption of a redistricting plan that will establish the geographic boundaries of
the County Council districts which will be in place for the next 10 years. Pursuant to Section 3 -17 (e) of
the Hawai` i County Charter, one public hearing will be held in East Hawai` i and one in West Hawaii.
November 21, 2011 (Monday) 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, West Hawai` i
Civic Center, 74 -5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy. Kailua -Kona, HI 96740
November 22, 2011 (Tuesday) 6:00 p.m. at the Hilo Council Chambers, 25 Aupuni
Street, Hilo, HI 96720.
Large Scale Maps of the Commission's Draft Plan, showing detail of the Council District Boundaries, will
be available for viewing at the Public Hearings. The Draft Plan is also available on the Redistricting
Commission's web page: http: / /www.co.hawaii.hi.us /council /reapp /index.htm
Submitting Testimony: All persons desiring to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at
the hearings and must register with the Redistricting Commission Secretary. Those submitting written
testimony at the hearings should bring eleven copies for distribution. Testimony may also be submitted: (1)
by mail to the Redistricting Commission, 74 -5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy. Kailua -Kona, HI 96740
(2) by facsimile to (808) 329 -4786; or (3) by e -mail to keo�fna cahawaii.hi.us. For testimony received via
e -mail or fax, copies will be distributed at the hearing when transmitted in a timely manner. All oral and
written testimony will be made a part of the public record.
Videoconferenc will be available at the above Hilo and Kona locations as well as:
• Kona Council Office, West Hawaii Civic Center, 74 -5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building A
• Waimea Council Office, Holomua Center, 64 -1067 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 5
• Pahoa Council Office, Pahoa Marketplace, 15 -2660 Pahoa Village Road, Room 105
If for technical or other unanticipated circumstances the video connection cannot be made and /or is
disrupted, the scheduled public hearing will continue.
The meeting place is accessible for persons with disabilities. Persons who need special accommodations
for these hearings should call at least two business days prior to the hearing(s). Relay users please call
