ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
1. Minutes of Meeting of August 22, 2011.
PRESENTATIONS
1.
REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE PUAKO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (30 minutes)
– Robby
Robertson and Peter Hacksetdde from the Puako Community Association and Chad Wiggins,
representing Makai Watch, will provide a report on strategies identified in Section 7.2 of the
SKCDP including an update on the fire break, waste water treatment, University of Hawai‘i Marine
Center, and Makai Watch.
REPORTS
2.
LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes)
– Rosalind Newlon, SKCDP Project
Manager will report on Planning Dept permits received in the previous month for the South Kohala
district.
3.
SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS AND UPDATES (20 minutes)
– SKCDP AC members will report on
the recent activities of the following subcommittees.
a)
Puako – Subcommittee Report will provide a redistricting update.
b)
Kawaihae – Subcommittee report will provide an update from the September 12, 2011 meeting
regarding the presentation on the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail; suggestions for
Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
amendments to the Kawaihae Community Plan of the CDP; discussion on a DHHL recreation
area; and report on the DOT Harbors Division presentation on the future of Kawaihae Harbor.
c)
Waimea – Subcommittee report on the design review of Longs Drug Store by Waimea
Community Association.
d)
Waikoloa – No report.
e)
District-Wide Matters – No report.
f)
Pu’u Protection – No report.
g)
Trails and Greenways – Subcommittee report on possible future presentations by others.
NEW BUSINESS
4.
REVIEW SECTION 9.5 OF THE SKCDP REGARDING THE PUAKO COMMUNITY PLAN (20
minutes)
– The SKCDP AC members will review Section 9.5 of the SKCDP, the Puako Community
Plan Monitoring Program in order to monitor the effectiveness of the policies and programs.
5.
DISCUSS THE POSSIBLITY OF AN ISLAND-WIDE ACTION COMMITTEE MEETING (10
minutes)
– Discuss the possibility of an island-wide action committee meeting to discuss effective
CDP implementation efforts.
6.
DISCUSS WHETHER IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SKCDP AC TO REVIEW PLAN
APPROVAL APPLICATIONS FOR PARTS OF THE COMMUNUNITY THAT DO NOT HAVE AN
ACTIVE DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE (15 minutes)
– Discussion will include Section 16-6 of
Chapter 16, Planning.

15, Section 2-91.3(a) (6), Hawaii County Code)
