I f have served since 1974 as Coordinator for the Pomaikai Senior Ce Specialist, CSE Program Director, EAD Deputy Director and for th Director, working with many outstanding and caring County employ organizations providing and improving services, programs, and ac I have been truly blessed to have worked with an extremely dedic whom have given so much of themselves in making our Big Island c Hopefully, these essential programs/services/activities provided life and enabled them to live the remaining years of their lives being healthy and active in the community, are still able to con and provide communities with valuable services. We can all agree positive "can do" attitude, our senior programs in Hawaii County has indeed become "Second to  None." Over these many years, I have met so many outstanding individual ships that I will cherish and will last forever. Senior Companion Recognition Luncheon On April 20, 2011, Senior Companions from around the island gath panion Recognition Luncheon which started off at the new West Hai Civic Center. Special guests  were Coran Kitaoka, EAD Assistant Operations Director who welcom and Suzanne Hull, Senior Companion Program Director from Oahu. Since this was Suzannes first time meeting the Hawaii companions, she had the seniors participate in  a getting to know youŽ activity. The seniors were presented wi for their dedication and compassionate care to the frail Kupunasi. Delicious buffet lunch  followed at Krua Thai Restaurant to complete the event. July-September 2011 Kupuna News ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR THE AARP TAX PROGRAM CSE was very proud to partner with AARP again this year to provide tax preparation assistance to seniors in our community. The AARP tax assistance program began February 3rd and ran through April 15th, 2011. East Hawaii reported  that a total of 578 individuals were provided assistance in completing their 2010 taxes. These state and federal refunds totaled over $325,000.
