Kupuna News 2 Information and Assistance (808) 961-8777 East Hawai‘i Recognizes Volunteers with a Special Lu‘au Celebration! What would we do without our dedicated volunteers? Each year we set aside time to recognize the contributions of our amazing volunteers. This year East Hawai‘i staff held a Lu‘au Celebration on December 2nd to honor and thank our volunteers who help to keep CSE going strong. The day was complete with special gifts, prizes donated by local business, yummy traditional lu‘au food prepared by staff and friends and some great entertainment offered by Kawelo Kong Ke‘e. From the colorful decorations, handmade leis, authentic ti leaf skirts and beautiful music, we hope the volunteers were reminded just how much we appreciate them. We also played a number of fun games at the celebration. Below you can see volunteers taking part in a unique “Tutu Says” competition. If Tutu says, “touch your head” then that’s what you should do, even if Tutu tricks you by touching her nose. You’ve got to watch out for those tricky Tutus! A big Mahalo to our volunteers and also to the dedicated CSE staff for all their hard work in making this year’s celebration another huge success. “Tutu” Leihua Malani says put your right hand on your po‘o with East Hawai‘i volunteers L-R: Bernice Tonioka, Charles Kalahiki, Annie Aoki, Lillian Watanabe, Shirley Stillman, and Marcie Castaneda.
