Masunaga Deputy Director County of Hawaii PLANNING DEPARTMENT Aupuni Center 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3 Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Phone (808) 961-8288 Fax (808) 961-8742 NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING SOUTH KOHALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN ACTION COMMITTEE HAWAI`I COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT DATE: Monday, May 24, 2010 TIME: 5:00 PM PLACE: Lilly Yoshimatsu Senior Center (Waimea Senior Center) 67-1199 Mamalahoa Highway Waimea, HI 96743 AGENDA CALL TO ORDER: STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS: APPROVAL OF MINUTES – April 26, 2010 PRESENTATIONS: 1) CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BUDGET DEVELOPMENT PROCESS BY COUNCILMAN PETE HOFFMAN (20 minutes) – Councilman Pete Hoffman will give the SKCDP Action Committee an overview of how the Capital Improvement Budget is developed in order to understand how current priorities for South Kohala can be placed on future CIP budgets. REPORTS: 2) SKCDP ACTION COMMITTEE VACANCY (5 minutes) – Update on the status of the vacancy on the South Kohala CDP Action Committee. 3) LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (5 minutes) – Allen Salavea, SKCDP Project Manager will report on Planning Dept permits received in the previous month for the South Kohala district. Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer LIASON REPORT FROM VARIOUS MEETINGS AND EVENTS ATTENDED IN 4) THE PREVIOUS MONTH (10 Minutes) – Liaisons will report back to the SKCDP AC regarding the various meetings and events attended in the previous month OLD BUSINESS ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR (20 Minutes) 5)– The SKCDP AC will elect a Chairperson and Vice-chairperson. DEVELOP 2010/2011 IMPLEMENTATION WORK PLAN FOR SKCDP (20 6) minutes) – Discuss developing an implementation work plan at the subcommittee level to define the priorities and activities of the Action Committee. a) Review and discuss the SKCDP AC list of priorities that have been compiled from the AC members and begin the process of organizing and priorities. b) Training needs and topics, c) Other relevant topics. CREATE SUBCOMMITTEE STRUCTURE (20 Minutes) 7) – Discuss the creation of SKCDP Action Committee subcommittees and how to determine committee . membership REVIEW DRAFT OPERATING GUIDELINES FROM AMY SELF, DEPUTY 8) CORPORATION COUNSEL(10 minutes) – Review document prepared for Kona CDP, which is being used as template for all Action Committees. DISCUSS SENDING LIASONS TO VARIOUS COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND 9) UPCOMING EVENTS (5 minutes) – Discuss sending a SKCDP Action Committee member to liaison with various community meetings to introduce the Action Committee and begin the process of forming relationships for move implementation of the SKCDP forward.
