ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
1. Minutes of Meetings of January 9, 2012
REPORTS
1) LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes) – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP
Project Manager will report on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous month for
the North Kohala district.
2) REPORT ON THE USE OF LARGE LIGHTED SIGNS FOR DISTRIBUTING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS (15 minutes) – The
NKCDP AC will report on the use of large lighted signs as identified in Strategy 4.4 of the
NKCDP.
NEW BUSINESS:
3) INFRASTRUCTURE A SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT ON COMMUNITY
COMMUNICATIONS PROPOSAL (20 minutes) – The Infrastructure A Subcommittee will
provide an update on their community outreach proposal to neighborhoods.
4) DISCUSSION OF STRATEGY 1.8 OF THE NKCDP FOR ACTION COMMITTEE
PARTICIPATION IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF IMPORTANT AGRICULTURAL LANDS
(20 minutes) – The NKCDP AC will discuss and make recommendations regarding the
identification of Important Agricultural Lands.

OLD BUSINESS:
5) NKCDP AC SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (30 minutes) – NKCDP AC members will
report on the recent activity of the subcommittees:
a.
Growth Management – The subcommittee will report on land use applications
submitted to the Planning Department.
b. Public Access – The subcommittee will provide an update about the activities at
update on the fundraising
Hapu'u-Kapanai'a and a letter that will be drafted;
activities for
Kauhola Lighthouse; update on the pedestrian trail at Pahoa
(Honomakau); update on grant of easements for the Upolu Airport – east end of
an update on the

c. Infrastructure A – The subcommittee will report on the Mahukona and Kapaa
Beach Parks and will provide an update on the Department of Water Supply
project.
d. Infrastructure B – The subcommittee will provide updates on electricity
reliability/redundancy; HELCO links to the wind farm; and transmission lines
through Kohala to supply geothermal power to Oahu via an undersea cable.
e. Affordable Housing – The subcommittee will provide updates on affordable
housing and land.
f. Agriculture – No Report.

Section 2-91.3(a) (6), Hawaii County Code}
