Minutes of Meetings of February 13, 2012 REPORTS 1) LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes) – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP Project Manager will report on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous month for the North Kohala district. 2) INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THE PLANS FOR A COMMUNITY MEETING AND IMPROVING COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY(15 minutes) -The investigative committee will provide an update on the plans for a community meeting and improving communications within the community. NEW BUSINESS: 3) REVIEW DRAFT LETTER FROM ACTION COMMITTEE REGARDING REQUEST FOR IMPORTANT AGRICULTURAL LANDS (IAL) TO BE IDENTIFIED AND MAPPED (10 minutes) – The NKCDP AC members will review a draft letter requesting that IAL be identified and mapped consistent with Strategy 1.8 of the NKCDP. 4) ORIENTATION FOR NEW ACTION COMMITTEE MEMBERS (15 minutes) – the NKCDP AC members will review the duties and responsibilities of AC members. 5) DISCUSS SUBCOMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS (10 Minutes) – The NKCDP AC will Hawai`i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer www.cohplanningdept.com planning@co.hawaii.hi.us discuss the assignments of AC members to each subcommittee. OLD BUSINESS: 6) NKCDP AC SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (30 minutes) – NKCDP AC members will report on the recent activity of the subcommittees: a. Growth Management – The subcommittee will report on land use applications submitted to the Planning Department. b. Public Access – The subcommittee will provide an update on the trail at Kohala on the fundraising Kai; update on activities at Hapu'u-Kapanai'a; update activities for Kauhola Lighthouse; update on the pedestrian trail at Pahoa (Honomakau); update on the new parking lot at Upolu Airport –east end of the runway; and grant of easement documents. c. Infrastructure A – The subcommittee will report on the Mahukona and Kapaa Beach Parks. d. Infrastructure B – The subcommittee will provide updates on electricity reliability/redundancy and transmission lines through Kohala to supply geothermal power to Oahu via an undersea cable; rural infrastructure and view plane protection. e. Affordable Housing – The subcommittee will provide updates on affordable housing and land. f. Agriculture – No Report.
