HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-03-15 Leeward Planning Commission Minutes LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I MINUTES MARCH 15, 2012 The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:40 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with Chair Geraldine Giffin presiding. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Geraldine Giffin, Lani Bowman, Richard Nelson and Thomas Whittemore ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Brandi Beaudet, Thomas Hickcox and Wayne Iokepa ALSO PRESENT: Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner), Maija Cottle (Staff Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) And no one from the public in attendance. A quorum was present. The Chair called the meeting to order and made the introductions. NEW BUSINESS APPLICANT: PLANNING DIRECTOR INITIATED Amendment to Map 15 of the Land Use Pattern Allocation Guide (LUPAG) Map of the County of Hawai‘i General Plan (adopted by Ordinance No. 05 25, amended by Ordinance No. 06 153) by changing the land use designation for Pāhoa Village and the immediately surrounding areas, Pāhoa, Puna, Hawai‘i. The Commission took up this item at 9:42 a.m. with no one from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT A) APPLICANT: PLANNING DIRECTOR INITIATED Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to Agricultural Tourism. The proposed amendment will specifically amend Sections 25-1-5(b), 25-2-71, 25-2-75, and 25-4-15 relating to definitions, plan approval requirements, and use regulations, respectively, as they are related to agricultural tourism. The Chair stated that this item had been deferred to the next meeting. There was no one from the public wishing to testify in regard to this application. APPLICANT: PLANNING DIRECTOR INITIATED Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to notification requirements for zoning amendment, project district and agricultural project district applications. The proposed amendment will specifically amend Sections 25-2-42(b), 25-6-44(b) and 25-6-54(b), and is a housekeeping matter that seeks to provide consistency among different sections of the Zoning Code. 1 The Commission took up this item at 9:54 a.m. with no one from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT B) APPLICANT: PLANNING DIRECTOR INITIATED Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), relating to crematoriums, funeral homes, funeral services and mortuaries. The Commission took up this item at 10:00 a.m. with no one from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT C) MINUTES – The Commission took up approval of the following minutes at this time, 10:04 a.m.: February 16, 2012 It was moved by Commissioner Whittemore and seconded by Commissioner Nelson that the minutes be approved as circulated. Motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS – None. ANNOUNCEMENTS – None. ADJOURNMENT – There being no further business, at 10:05 a.m., it was moved by Commissioner Bowman and seconded by Commissioner Whittemore that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance.
