STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS:
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
1. Minutes of Meetings of April 11, 2012.
2. Revise Schedule of NKCDP AC Meetings for Calendar Year 2012.
REPORTS
1) LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes) Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP
Project Manager will report on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous month for
the North Kohala district.
2) INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THE PLANS FOR A
COMMUNITY MEETING AND IMPROVING COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE
COMMUNITY(15 minutes) -The investigative committee will provide an update and
recommendations to the AC Members on the plans for a community meeting and
improving communications within the community.
NEW BUSINESS:
3) PUBLIC ACCESS, OPEN SPACE & NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION
COMMISSION (PONC) (15 minutes) PONC Commissioner, Gail Byrne Baber, shall
provide the Action Committee with a brief presentation about the Commission and its
process for solicitation of suggestions from the community for PONC to recommend
priorities for County purchase of lands. The Action Committee will discuss and make
recommendations as appropriate.

OLD BUSINESS:
4) NKCDP AC SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (30 minutes) NKCDP AC members will
report on the recent activity of the subcommittees:
a.
Growth Management The subcommittee will report on land use applications
submitted to the Planning Department.
b.
Public Access The subcommittee will provide an update on the trail at Kohala
on the
Kai; update on activities at Hapu'u-Kapanai'a; update Kauhola Lighthouse
purchase and celebration; Upolu Airport Area restoration; update on Coast
Niuli'i parcel;
Guard road; update on Kohala Kai; update on a new and grant of
easement documents.
c. Infrastructure A The subcommittee will report on activities at the Mahukona
Beach Park.
d. Infrastructure B The subcommittee will provide updates on ongoing efforts
of coordination of routes for the proposed electric loop for North Kohala and
transmission of geothermal power to Oahu; view plane protection and rural
infrastructure.
e. Affordable Housing The subcommittee will provide updates on affordable
housing and land.
f. Agriculture The subcommittee will provide a report on the characteristics of
Important Agricultural Lands (IAL) according to Act 183 and IAL incentives for
landowners through Act 233; a report on the Initiative for Citrus Cooperative; Soil
reconditioning at existing and projected lands; and strategic agricultural
development for North Kohala.
