STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS:
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
1. Minutes of Meeting of June 25, 2012.
REPORTS
1)
LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes) – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP Project
Manager will report on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous two months for the
North Kohala district.
2)
INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THE PLANS FOR A
COMMUNITY MEETING AND IMPROVING COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE
COMMUNITY(15 minutes) -The investigative committee will provide an update and
recommendations to the AC Members on the plans for a community meeting and improving
communications within the community.
3)
NKCDP AC SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (30 minutes) – NKCDP AC members will report on
the recent activity of the subcommittees:
a.
Growth Management – The subcommittee will report on land use applications
submitted to the Planning Department.
b.
Public Access – The subcommittee will provide an update on Kohala Kai; update on
Ranch at Puakea; update on Vipassana coastal lots; update on activities at Hapu'u-
Kapanai'a; update on Kauhola Point; Upolu Airport Area restoration; update on Upolu
Airport – east end of the runway; update on easements in the area of Coast Guard
road; update on coastal trail at Kohala Kai; update on Pratt Road, Old Railroad and
Wylie Blvd.; and grant of easement documents.

c. Infrastructure A – The subcommittee will report on proposed

proposed to improve North Kohala's electricity reliability/redundancy and transmission
lines through Kohala to supply geothermal power to Oahu via an undersea cable; rural
infrastructure and view plane protection.
e. Affordable Housing – The subcommittee will provide updates on affordable housing
and land.
f. Agriculture – The subcommittee will provide an update on identification of Important
Agricultural Lands; citrus-juicing Co-op and soil testing issues; and a progress report
on the High School and Middle School Aquaponics Program.
NEW BUSINESS:

PROVIDE NEW NAMES FOR INFRASTRUCTURE A AND B SUBCOMMITTEES (10
Minutes) – The AC Members will discuss providing new names for the Infrastructure A and B
Subcommittees to better identify what their functions are.
