Minutes of Meeting of August 13, 2012. REPORTS 1) LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (5 minutes) – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP Project Manager will provide a report on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous month for the North Kohala district. 2) NKCDP AC SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (10 minutes) – NKCDP AC members will report on the recent activity of the subcommittees: a. Growth Management – The subcommittee will provide an overview of the accomplishments over the last year including; establishing procedures and policies for Growth Management Subcommittee; provide examples of land use applications reviewed in the last year; and discuss goals for making recommendations to the Planning Director and disseminating information to the public. b. Public Access – The subcommittee will provide an overview of accomplishments over the last year including the acquisition of coastal lands; updates on coastal access; and provide updates on Grants of Easements and Shoreline easements. c. Affordable Housing – The subcommittee will provide an update of affordable housing and land; and provide an overview of self-help and Habitat Hawai‘i housing programs. Parks and Water Improvement (formerly called Infrastructure A) –The subcommittee will provide an overview of their accomplishments over the last year with their activities at North Kohala parks and their water improvement project. Power, View Planes and Erosion Control (formerly called Infrastructure B) – e. The subcommittee will provide an overview of the route coordination for the proposed North Kohala reliability/redundancy electric loop with the proposed supply of geothermal power to Oahu; continuing efforts in rural infrastructure and erosion control; and view plane protection. f. Agriculture – The subcommittee will provide an update on their accomplishments over the last year including; their project aimed at the identification of Important Agricultural Lands; update on the identification of “strategically sited “ agricultural lands; update on citrus juicing co-op; update on soil-testing issues; and an update on high school Aquaponics program.
