D. REPORTS
1. LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT (10 minutes)
– Terry Dunlap, SKCDP Project
Manager will report on Planning Department permits received in the previous month for the
South Kohala district.
2. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS AND UPDATES (20 minutes)
– SKCDP AC members will
report on the recent activities of the following subcommittees.
a Waimea
(1) No Subcommittee report
b Kawaihae
(1) Recommendation: Motion to seek support to update the County
Tsunami/Evacuation Website to include Hawaiian Homes Residential Subdivisions on
Maps 10 and 11.
(2) Recommendation: Motion to support the effort to fund, plan and construct an
emergency road from the (Mauka) Hawaiian Homeland subdivision to safety at higher
ground.

(1) Report on the 27th International Coastal Clean up - held Sept 15
(2) The draft of the State Historic Preservation Plan 2012-12017 is ready for

E. DISTRICT WIDE SUBCOMMITTEE (5 Minutes)
Update and report on traffic issues and projects in South Kohala.
F. OLD BUSINESS (15 Minutes)
(1) Hapuna Beach State Park Improvements and Old Puako Road Gating.
Discussion that the County retains control over the road until the AC can better
assess the impact it could have on the district at large
(2) Discussion whether this committee should send a request to Corporation Counsel
inquiring into the specific authority and jurisdiction of the SKCDP Action Committee.
G. NEW BUSINESS
(1) Report on Action Committee’s involvement with the interview process for new
Action Committee members.
(2) The Planning Department is in receipt of the SKCDP Action Committee
resolution asking that the SK CDP Action Committee be notified of, and be given
opportunity to provide timely comments on, all applications to the PlanningDepartment.

This will be discussed at upcoming September 25 meeting between the Planning
Department and the SKCDP AC Chair and Vice Chair
