Pacific Plains
o
Report from Larry Brown of the Planning Department
Planning did not receive a grant of easement document for Pacific Plains.
·
We did receive an Amended Shoreline Public Access Plan dated May 22,
2012, which we responded to on June 8, 2012 stating that the signage at the
public parking easement should include a map showing the vehicular and
pedestrian access alignments. We further commented that the Revised Final
Plat Map submitted needed to be amended to indicate that the lateral
pedestrian trail was also a 10-wide public pedestrian access easement in
favor of the County.
We want the county planning department to send us a copy of the access plan.

After consulting with kahu, the landowners are installing a protective fence around
the Hale O Kaili Heiau.
Kauhola Lighthouse
Nothing new to report.

Ainakea
Report from Larry Brown of the Planning Department.
o
Grant of Easement for Ainakea has been signed by the Mayor and the Resolution to
accept the easement by the County Council passed out of the Parks & Recreation
Committee with a favorable recommendation on July 18. I expect approval by the
full Council at their next meeting on August 1.

Nothing new to report.

Upolu Airport - East end of the runway
Report from Larry Brown of the Planning Department.

No GOE submitted to Planning since 12/19/11. Planning letter dated 2/22/12
(attached) itemized necessary corrections to GOE for this site as well as for SKC
(5-3-07:0040, New Moon (5-3-06:023), Vipassana Hawaii (5-3-07:010), Davis
Trust (5-3-07:048, and Anderson Trust (5-3-06:027)
We would like the easement document from the planning department regarding Surety

Kohala Corporation.
The previous owner that had easement agreement with the county.
Upolu Airport Area Restoration
The 90 or so Naupaka plants have been delivered to Upolu airport maintenance area.

We will need about 1,000 Naupaka plants

Cooperative Agreement is at DLNR for approval
Trail survey will occur in the coming months, as other projects are completed,
Coast Guard Road

County has submitted application to the National Park Service for acquisition of the
road and approximately 6 acres of adjacent lands within the Loran Station parcel.
We are still waiting for a response from the NPS.
Puakea Bay Ranch
A letter regarding realign the trail along the cliff on Lot 41 and not wait until the property

has a new owner has been sent to the NK CDP Action Committee.

We are currently working on a trails & cultural sites map with property lines.

Music & talk story gathering has been tentatively set for October 21, 2012

Fred Cachola & a committee will coordinate the event.

Annual Report to the NK CDP Action Committee

Will need to list the following: accomplishments, reference to the CDP, Goals for
this year.
Joe will draft a report.
North Kohala CDP Action Committee.

Will hold a community meeting on September 12, 2012.
It will be held from 5:30 pm till 8:00 pm

It will take place at the Kohala Intergenerational Center (KIC)

Wednesday September 5, 2012, 4:30pm in the Old Courthouse.
