<br />North Kohala Access Group Minutes <br />Meeting Notes <br />October 3, 2012 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />Participants: Jack Hoyt, Faye Yates, Lisa Andrews, Toni Withington, Beth Robinson, Eric <br />Batha, Joe Carvalho, Keone MacKillop, Ted Matsuda. <br />Pololu <br />Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) <br />This land is owned by Kamehameha Schools and Pono Pacific is applying for a grant <br />o <br />from NOAA to do restoration. <br />Ocean Warriors will be doing shoreline restoration <br />· <br />Hapu'u - Kapanaia <br />Hapu'u. <br />Coastline cleanup is ongoing. <br />o <br />All fencing around the Heiau and the pedestrian trails are complete. <br />o <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />Trust for Public Lands (TPL) is compiling the community survey for analysis. <br />Ainakea <br />Report from Larry Brown of the Planning Department <br />The Council did accept the easement. County lawyers are preparing petition for <br />o <br />recordation with the Land Court. LC approval will likely take 3-6 months. <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />Report from Larry Brown of the Planning Department <br />We still do not have any easements over the EWM properties (TMKs 5-5-6:10 and 5- <br />o <br />5-7:2). <br />Upolu Airport Area Restoration <br />A work day was held on September 29, 2012 <br />They met and set up strategies and goals for this project <br />o <br />Strategies that groups can work on. <br />· <br />The water system <br />¨ <br />Planting and repotting Naupaka <br />¨ <br />Signage -Middle school students <br />¨ <br />Goals <br />· <br />1st year is to plant 1,000 Naupaka in the ground and have it watered initially <br />¨ <br />to get it started. <br />2nd year is to plant Hala trees in the ground. <br />¨ <br /> <br /> <br />
