The Planning Department would like to thank you all for your time and efforts to help in the
implementation of the Community Development Plans approved for your districts.
We would like to send out a friendly reminder that all official correspondence, to and from each
Action Committee, needs to go thru the Planning Department. This would pertain to
correspondence to and from other county departments, federal & state agencies and private
individual sk orporati on slagenci es .
All government boards, commissions and committees are governed by Chapters 91 and 92 of the
Hawai `i Revised Statutes. All correspondence for every attached board and commission, such as
the planning commissions, the Board of Appeals, PONC, the Police commission, the Fire
Commission goes through the department to which it is attached. Therefore as a committee
administratively attached to our department, we are required to keep track of all your
correspondence and have it available as a government record for public inspection.
As a final reminder the Hawai `i County Charter, Section 6 -7.2 identifies myself as the Chief
Planning Officer of the County and as such am responsible for advising the Mayor, Planning
Commissions and County Council on all planning and land use matters in the County. As a part
of those duties and responsibilities it is necessary for me to be informed/made aware of
everything regarding such planning and land use matters.
