Not enough restrooms to accomodate women and children. It is almost impossible to find a restroom in Pahoa. Community Center & Senior Center The community center in town is great for a lot of things, even for the derelicts of Pahoa to sit in or around a vehicle in the parking lot and drink. They need jobs rather then to be displaced. The Community Center is a bit drab, rundown. Modernize Replace. Parks and Recreation Page 1 The Pahoa Commenity Center is old and ugly really needs improvements. More classes for seniors. There are not nearly enough classes at the neighborhood center for seniors. Haven't used the pool in years, to old to ride a skate board, can't steal bases anymore, would like to see a few pool table with separate hours for kids and adults and a time for family play. Our upkeep on parks suck. I know the county is doing a betterjob than the state. The pool is closed on Holidays and whenever a power outage happens the guards still get paid but the pool is often closed for 24 to 48 hours following. Solar heat the pool! add parks with simple amenities, like picnic benches. Leilani Park is a good example to follow. Good start with pool and skate park. How about a YMCA or similar family rec center, adjoining Need a good public park for children to play in with restrooms and climbing structures. Need a large park within walking distance that serves all age groups. The pool is excellent but the water could be warmer. Paint the bottom of the pool black so we can use it .............too cold! The pool needs to expand their hours and their services... including utilizing the boilers to heat the pool during the cooler months. The elderly and the kids can utilize it the way they should, then. Our public pool is a gem. It would be nice to have a modren playground for our keiki. Warm the pool please, you could put solar on the roof, or do a black hose kind of solar collector Parks and Recreation Page 8 Town Center Parks I think the Central Business District would benefit from a nice botanic garden, full of tropicals and palm trees.
