Water, Parks and Roads Subcommittee
Minutes of Meeting April 18, 2013
Nanbu Courtyard
Participants: Andi Longpre, John Winter, Bill Aierstruck, Toni Withington
WATER: It was decided that there is not enough community identification of water
problems to pursue a rural community water association. Instead it was decided to
write a letter to Dept. of Water Supply (DWS) reporting on the community meeting,
pointing out
1. The higher risk of leaks on long spaghetti lines with the suggestion
to factor in the lines over other's property in determining leak adjustments.
2. The decrease in chlorine level and pressure in long lines far from
an owner's property line.
Beginning June 1 the DWS will only post annual water quality reports for North
Kohala online at the DWS website
The subcommittee decided to put together a leak detection workshop for the
community.
Andi reported that the "Non Potable Water" signs at Mahukona Park and pier are
not posted. She said she will call Jason Armstrong at County P &R to report that.
ROADS: It was suggested that the subcommittee schedule an open community
meeting at Keokea regarding thePololu lookout situation and possible solutions.
Next meeting is scheduled for May 28 at 5pm at the Intergenerational Center.
Agenda: Leak detection workshop, Secondary roads, Pololu lookout
