REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
This is toinform you that Chapter 17 of the International Building Code requires that the owner employ special inspectors, independent
(only circled numbered inspections required for this project):
of the contractors performing the work, for the following types of work

Inspection of fabricators Pier foundation

Special inspections for seismic resistance Sprayed Fire-resistant Material
4.11.
Steel construction-Reinforcing Steel/Prestressing Steel, Welding, H.S. Bolting Mastic and intumescent Fire-resistant Coatings
5.12.
Soils Exterior Insulation and finish System (EIFS)
6. 13.
Wood Construction Special Inspection for Smoke Control
7. 14.
Masonry Construction Special Cases (specify)

Duties and Responsibilities of the Special Inspector:
1.
Observe work assigned for conformance with approved design drawings and specifications.
2.
Furnish inspection reports to the owner, the engineer or architect of record and other owner-designated persons. All
discrepancies shall be brought to the immediate attention of the contractor for correction; then, if uncorrected, to proper
design authority and to the building official.
3.
Prior to the final inspection, the licensed engineer or architect of record shall submit a written statement verifying receipt of
the final special inspection reports and documenting that there are no known unresolved code requirements that create
significant public safety deficiencies.
