Report to PCDP Action Committee 11-13-12
On Thursday, October 18th we had a Community Meeting at the Mountain View School. There
were 71 attendees and 44 of those people signed up to participate in the process. That was a
meeting for informing the community about the Puna Community Development plan and the
option to create a village community plan for Mountain View. Robin Stetson shared her
experience in getting the Pahoa Plan underway.
We held our first working group meeting on Thursday,November 8th at the Fern Acres
Community Association Meeting Room. We started to discuss possible definitions of
boundaries of the Mountain View Village Center and also those areas which are or could be
serviced by that Village. We determined to seek out more information and meet again on
Thursday, November 28 ', again at the Fern Acres Meeting Room. We deferred selecting a
chairperson until January and I will continue to coordinate our meetings and work through
December.
Mountain View area residents appear to be relieved and happy that there is now an opportunity
for the community to plan for its own growth and future and there are quite a few people with
great skills and energy invested in the process.
