MOUNTAIN VIEW VILLAGE CENTER PLAN
WORKING GROUPS MEETING
FEBRUARY 13, 2014, 6:OOPM,MOUNTAIN VIEW SCHOOL CAFETERIA
In attendance: Frank Commendador, Patti Pinto, Terry Daun, Sharon Daun, Marcia May, Hannah Hedrick,
Heidi Hutchinson, Peggy Gentle,Nadine Robertson, Mark Robertson
• Frank Commendador opened the meeting at 6:00 with a discussion on the survey progress. Patti reported
that including the 33 surveys that Nadine collected after the Fun Run, we have 145 completed surveys.
There was discussion of the difficulties of getting into our local schools for a survey assembly. It was
agreed that we will continue to persevere in this effort until March 5. Then we will assemble our data and
close out the survey.
• Looking at our next step, Peggy and Patti have assembled an asset survey from the Alaska Village plan for
us to begin to inventory the assets of our community. The survey will cover all existing community assets
including infrastructure, utilities, social services, community resources, land use, economic, employment.
Our completed asset survey will give us a complete picture of Mountain View Village and the surrounding
community as it is. There was extended discussion of our fresh water assets, where there is county water,
subdivision catchments, fire hydrants, etc. Also discussed were fire services, both county and volunteer;
emergency preparedness, amateur radio, roads, state and county land and roads. We took on responsibilities
for beginning investigations into our Mountain View assets as follows:
1. Water Service: Frank and Nadine
2. Fire Service: Marcia
3. Roads: Patti
4. Land Ownership: Frank and Patti
5. Amateur Radio: Peggy
Frank said that he will ask a representative from the water department to speak at a meeting in May. This will
provide an opportunity for us to engage the larger community in an informational meeting.
Our next meeting will be March 13, 2014, 6:00pm at the
Mountain View School Cafeteria
