Mountain View Village Plan
November 29, 2012, 6:00—7:30
Meeting Summary
The meeting's focus was on reviewing information that was gathered since our last meeting,
further work on defining our village center, signing up for working groups.
Donny Souza reported on the water lines in the village. He reported that there is a 12"water
service that runs along the highway to Pszyk Road, where it turns inland and is reduced in size.
The water lines along the highway run at 12"throughout our village. Further water pressure will
be available as newer facilities are brought on line.
Patti Pinto presented census data on Mountain View and surrounding subdivisions.
There was discussion around defining our village center. We discussed defining our feeder areas
as an outer circle and the actual planning area to be the village center. We resolved to find out
whether or not being within the "Village Center"would make it easier or harder to secure a zone
change.
We began sign-ups for the Working Groups. They are:
1. Managing Growth: Land use and zoning, residential, commercial, industrial,
agricultural. Economic development, social services, housing, public safety, sanitation
and wastewater. Parks and Recreation, Community Center, Senior Center
2. Transportation: Roadways in and out of Mountain View, pedestrian access and safety,
parking, bike trails, bus stops, Scenic Corridor.
3. Mountain View Design District: A special district plan for Mountain View's central
village. To preserve and perpetuate Mountain View's unique character and appearance.
4. Malama I ka 'Aina: Preservation of Historic, Cultural and Scenic Resources. Parks and
Green Spaces.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 10 '. We hope to have the school cafeteria
again for the January meeting.
