Dear Sir/Madam:
I am the architect of record for the above project and am certifying the elevation of the
finished construction in the accompanying FEMA Elevation Certificate. This post
construction certificate varies from the preconstruction certificate for the following
reasons:
1) In the drawings the bottom of the grade beam and footings were drawn three feet
below the existing grade to prevent scouring by a tsunami in case the footings
were set on sand. The footings are set on blue rock so they did not need to be
three feet below grade. I approved that change. The foundation contractor made
the concrete columns the same height from the top of grade beam and footing to
the top of the concrete columns which accounts for the height difference in Items
C2. a), b), and c) from the preconstruction certificate. I approve that change.
2) There was an additional slight difference in Items b) and c) due to the bamboo
construction and the relative height of the glulam beam at the lanai edge that I
have approved.
3) The hotwater heater has been installed below the floor level but above the base
flood elevation. I approve of this change as well.
