HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-04-17 Leeward Planning Commission Minutes LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I MINUTES APRIL 17, 2014 The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:35 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with Vice Chair Thomas Hickcox presiding. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Thomas Hickcox, Collin Kaholo, Barbara Nobriga and Thomas Whittemore ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Brandi Beaudet, Geraldine Giffin and Richard Nelson, III ALSO PRESENT: Bobby Command (Deputy Planning Director), Margaret Masunaga (Deputy Corporation Counsel), Bennett Mark (Planning Program Manager), Keola Childs (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) And two people from the public in attendance. A quorum was present. Vice Chair Hickcox called the meeting to order and introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of the public, and described the procedure for public testimony. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – No statements were presented under this section of the agenda. NEW BUSINESS INITIATOR: COUNTY COUNCIL Bill No. 182 amending Chapter 23, Article 4, Division 1, Section 23-61 of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to site visits for applications for Subdivisions. More specifically, the amendment will require the Planning Director or representative to conduct a site visit of property(ies) affected by a proposed subdivision action to verify accuracy of information shown on the preliminary plat map or any omissions required by the Subdivision Code, and site conditions that could result in deleterious effects to general welfare and health of the community. The Commission took up this item at 9:37 a.m. with two people from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT A) MINUTES – The Commission took up the following minutes at 9:55 a.m.: 1 March 20, 2014 – It was moved by Commissioner Whittemore and seconded by Commissioner Nobriga that the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS – The Commission took up the following matters at 9:56 a.m.: 1.Status of applications heard by Leeward Planning Commission that are pending before County Council There were no updates. ANNOUNCEMENTS – The Vice Chair announced that the next meeting was tentatively scheduled for May 15, 2014. ADJOURNMENT – There being no further business, at 9:57 a.m., it was moved by Commissioner Whittemore and seconded by Commissioner Nobriga that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance.
