HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-53 MTSC meeting minutes 22Jul14 Communication No. 2014-53 PCDP Mass Transit Subcommittee minutes,July 22, 2014 In attendance: June Conant, Jon Olson, Rusty Jones, Sharon Daun, Stephanie Bath Guest: Catherine Ford With the PREP Fair fast approaching, the MTSC has been requested to provide 2 display boards to focus on where we are in regards to mass transit issues. They will include a timeline of the work to date, the non responsiveness, the steps taken, and current routes with times that it takes to get places. One will highlight the communications which have occurred during the past 8 years regarding hub and spoke and airport transit. The other one will focus on hub and spoke as to where we are and where we are going. Also, the committee is interested in a simple survey to have in the mapping room. Jon brought a printout as to how to make a FOIA request for a copy of FHWA response communications issued to the Environmental Justice Complaint by Bonnie Goodell in 1988. He asked all of us to request a copy. Once we have the document in hand, page 3 of 6 outlines the non-compliance issues in regards to mass transit on this island and we can use this document as reference in future communications. Steph will work on the communication display board using Hannah's historical compilation that she gave us last month. The history, including the development of the Community Development Plans and the Puna Regional Circulation Plan will be noted. Also shown will be what has been adopted by ordinance and not implemented. She knows a person who can take all our input and make a very presentable display. June will work on hub and spoke. The second board will focus on hub and spoke/airport with what we are seeking to be implemented. It was decided to use Figure 4 on Page 12 of the Mobility working papers in the back of the Resource Binder as the main focus. The "map" showing proposed transit hubs, park-and-ride lots and paratransit service areas needs to be enlarged. She will also work on a simple survey in a spreadsheet format that has all the Puna locations listed. A question regarding the disabled should be included. Sharon talked about Survey Monkey. She has access to it and thought it might be useful. For the PREP Fair, she proposed a sample letter which participants can sign and/or a petition in order to get actions started. She will start composing these items. The next committee meeting will be Tuesday,August 26 at 3:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, June Conant
