Communication No. 2014-61 <br /> Volcano Long Range Planning Committee Minutes 8/ 11/ 2014 <br /> The meeting at Vikki Milon's house was called to order by Dan Taylor at 6:20 PM. <br /> Attending: Dan Taylor, Vikki Milon, Pat Conant, Tim Tunison, Pat Halpern, Diane Ware <br /> Agenda: <br /> • Prepare for the presentation of the VLRP to the PCDP Action Committee 8/12/2014 <br /> • Report of Action Committee (Sharon Daun) and VCA (Nancy Lakin), with reference to <br /> the Thai fast food wagon <br /> • Update about CV Land use zone allowed uses in the proposed Historic District (Pat <br /> Halpern) <br /> • Update on progress of formation of a team to propose an Overlay District zone for <br /> forest protection (Tim Tunison) <br /> • Final report from our VLRP editors (Vikki Milon, Chia Longtree) <br /> Item 1- Presentation VLRP <br /> Dan discussed his power point presentation for the Puna meeting scheduled for 3 PM <br /> 8/12. Testimony will be made by the members present today and by Jeffrey Mermel. It <br /> was determined that the testimony would not be repetitive, and would include personal <br /> reasons for supporting the plan and specific aspects of the plan. We will urge the AC to <br /> read, accept and forward the VLRP to the County. <br /> Item 2- Report on Thai food wagon <br /> Reports were deferred since Sharon and Nancy were absent. The use permit is <br /> pending at the County. The VCA had sent a letter to County Planning Department, <br /> explaining why we think the Blake operation ought to be re-located to a more <br /> appropriate site in Volcano. <br /> Item 3- Land use in the Historic District <br /> The main concern is future development in the proposed Historic District. Vikki reviewed <br /> the sub committee recommendations. <br /> Deletions of some current CV and RS 20 uses, such as the following: <br /> Amusement and recreation facilities, indoor, automobile sales and rentals, sports bars, <br /> Cemeteries and mausoleums, Commercial parking lots and garages (unless off the <br /> main road and hidden), Additional Community buildings (since one is already in place <br /> on Wright Road), Dwellings, double-family or duplex, Dwelling, multiple-family, Group <br /> living facilities (ie., halfway houses), Hospitals and sanitariums, Laboratories, medical <br /> and research, Manufacturing, processing and packaging light and general for retail <br />
