Little Fire Ant Treatments Scheduled for
Two Hilo Parks
As part of its ongoing efforts to control little fire ants at public recreational
sites, the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation has
scheduled treatments, weather permitting, at the following parks in Hilo:
• Malama Park on Monday, September 29
• Waiakeawaena Park and adjacent Joseph G. Andrews Gymnasium
on Saturday, October 4
Application of the ant bait will require closing each park temporarily during
the morning of the scheduled treatment day.
Additional treatment sites and dates will be announced in the future.
The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks park users and the
general public for their patience and understanding while it works to control
this invasive species.

Officer, at 961-8311 or iarmstronqa hawaiicountgov.
