Subject: The County Council proposed amendment to Map 14 of the Land Use Pattern Allocation
Guide (LUPAG) Map of the County of Hawaiʻi General Plan (adopted by Ordinance No.
05-025, amended by Ordinance Nos. 06-153 and 14-087) by changing the land use
designation for portions of Keaʻau Village and immediately surrounding areas
At our January 13, 2015 meeting the Action Committee of the Puna Community Development Plan
considered the proposed LUPAG amendment. We are requesting that the Director delay bringing this
proposal to the Windward Planning Commission until March 2015. The Action Committee is
requesting more time to consider all of the ramifications of the proposed amendment. We have had
insufficient time to properly review the submitted documents and require more time for study. In
addition, the maps that were included with the submittal were difficult to read so we have requested
clearer maps be provided to the AC members.
We hope that granting our request does not cause undue inconvenience.
