Hilo's Kawamoto Swim Stadium Scheduled to
Close February 5 for Little Fire Ant Treatment
Weather permitting, the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and
Recreation will close Hilo's Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium all
day on Thursday, February 5, so the facility can be treated for little fire
ants.
Normal swim programs are scheduled to resume on Friday, February 6,
when the swimming pool is expected to be reopened at 9 a.m. for public
recreational and adult swimming sessions.
Additional temporary closures are expected every six weeks to
accommodate follow-up treatments by the Department's little fire ant
control technicians.
The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks pool patrons and the
general public for their understanding while it seeks to control invasive little
fire ants.

Officer, at 961-8311 or iarmstronqa hawaiicountgov.
