HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-23 CERS minutes 28Apr15Communication No. 2015 -23 PCDP Subcommittee on Connectivity and Emergency Response Meeting —April 28, 2015 Keaau Community Center 5:00 p.m. MINUTES Call to Order: 5:15 p.m. Approval of Minutes as read (Meeting held March 24, 2015) In Attendance: Patti Pinto, June Conant, Jon Olson, Rusty Jones, Hannah Hedrick, Sherri Carden, and Marlene Hapai, Chair. Old Business: • Update on Ad hoc Committee on Connectivity and Emergency Response initiated by Greggor Ilagan Ilagan will work on draft for committee and introduce to Council at July's meeting Need to schedule meetings with the following: • Representative San Buenaventura • Representative Onishi • Senator Ruderman • Representative Gabbard • Senator Schatz Once the Legislative session is done, legislators will be back on island and will schedule meetings with them. Emphasized that alternative emergency routes have been successfully implemented. Need to look at and consider using Congresswoman Patsy Mink's model. New Business: • Reprioritizing of Connectivity Locations to include input from May 2014 - April 2015. PREP Fair, testimonies from PCDP, emails, letters, input during CERS meetings Discussion ensued to reprioritize existing and new input on Connectivity Locations recommended by community members to include input provided between May 2013 and April 2015. A report has been forwarded separately providing the subcommittee's discussion and recommendations. • Open Discussion on Topics of Concern to CERS members and others in attendance 1) Discussed importance of quality of roads as having the greatest impact on school attendance. 2) Hannah Hedrick representing Neighborhood and Puna Watch emphasized their importance in enhancing safety in communities. Also suggested cameras be installed at connectivity locations to help with safety and emergency response and reduce illegal activities.
