HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-04-16 Leeward Planning Commission Minutes LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I MINUTES APRIL 16, 2015 The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:35 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with Chairman Brandi Beaudet presiding. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Brandi Beaudet, Scott Church, Collin Kaholo, Sonny Shimaoka, Keith Unger and Barbara Nobriga (from 9:38 a.m.) ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Thomas Whittemore ALSO PRESENT: Danny Patel (Deputy Corporation Counsel), Bobby Command (Deputy Planning Director), Jeff Darrow (Planner), Maija Jackson (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) And four people from the public in attendance. A quorum was present. Chair Beaudet called the meeting to order, and introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of the public. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – No statements were presented under this section of the agenda. NEW BUSINESS APPLICANT: WAIEMI LLC (SLU 15-042/REZ 15-186) Applications for a State Land Use Boundary Amendment from Agricultural to Rural and a Change of Zone from Agricultural- 3 acres (A-3a) to Residential and Agricultural- 1.5 acre (RA-1.5a) for 3 acres of land. The property is located along the north side of Kawaihae Road, at the northeast corner of the Kawaihae Road - Waiemi Place intersection, Waimea Landmark Estates, South Kohala, Hawai‘i, TMK: 6-2-005:008. The Commission took up this item at 9:37 a.m. with two people from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT A) MINUTES – The Commission took up the following minutes at 10:07 a.m.: March 19, 2015 – It was moved by Commissioner Kaholo and seconded by Commissioner Nobriga that the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners present. 1 ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS – The Commission took up the following matters at 10:08 a.m.: 1.Status of applications heard by Leeward Planning Commission that are pending before County Council. – Mr. Darrow reported the following: • ROBERT HIND III AND MARGARET HIND (REZ 14-181): The bill passed the final reading. ANNOUNCEMENTS – Mr. Darrow announced that the next meeting was scheduled for May 21, 2015, with tentatively four items on the agenda. In response to Chair Beaudet’s question regarding the status of the Lalamilo Farm Partners, LP (Amend SPP 77-20/SPP 378) contested case hearing, Mr. Darrow reported that the selection of a hearings officer would soon be concluded. ADJOURNMENT – There being no further business, at 10:12 a.m., it was moved by Commissioner Shimaoka that the meeting be adjourned.
